NOTES ON MATTERS TREATED IN THE FIRST INSTRUCTION AT THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF JANUARY 7, 1774
On the material temporal Universal Creation enacted by virtue of the senary number of divine thoughts, veiled in Genesis by the six days of Moses.
Mysterious addition of the three divine faculties, Thought, Will, and Action.
Plan of Creation present in the mind of the Creator in a ∇ [triangular] form.
Imprint of this triangle in all the products of Creation.
Ternary number of spiritual essences, the producers of the forms mysteriously called sulfur, salt, and mercury.
Principial essences of the elements, principial elements of bodies.
Produced by the spirits of the axis, central fire or uncreated fire.
Spiritual essences in respect to one another.
In their state of indifferentiation, having their vitriol innate without action, produced Chaos.
Envelope of Chaos formed by the spirits of the axis.
Elders in infancy, their spiritual being sometimes occupied elsewhere.
Sensible terrestrial circle to the West, visual to the North, rational to the South, sensible at the mother's breast, visible during life, rational during Reintegration, sensible from the earth to the moon, visual from the moon to the Sun, rational from the Sun to Saturn.
Lesser spiritual beings led and driven by the greater beings in these three circles.
Free will destroyed through the function of the greater, _felix culpa_.
Lesser ternary spirits are bodily without intelligence.
The ordinary axis is the horizontal line that supports and runs through Creation.
The uncreated fire axis is at once the envelope, the support, and the center of Creation, and is uncreated because the ternary spirits that produce it are emanated and not created.
Man destined for persecution by the wicked spirits.
He disrupts the work of the Creator in taking his own life, in falling into excess. His body is a temple. Fasts enfeeble the attacks of the enemy. The five senses are the gates of the enemy and of the watchman.
The bodily soul or vehicle resides in the blood; the spiritual soul likewise acts on the blood or the adherent vehicle.[16]
SECOND INSTRUCTION[17]
FROM MONDAY, JANUARY 20, 1774
Quaternary emanation of man deriving from the fourfold divine essence represented by thought 1, will 2, action 3, and operation 4, the mysterious addition of which completes the denary number 10 or ☉, that is, the circumference, which is the emblem of eternal power and of universal creation, and its center, which represents the indivisible unit from which all is derived and within which all will be reintegrated.
Quaternary emanation and power privileges of man, represented by the 4 signs or characters applied to him in the reception of the first grades of the order: the 1st, to the heart, recalls his spiritual existence; the 2nd, to the right side, the good companion given to him to direct him; the 3rd, to the top of the head, the greater spirit of double power that drives and rule over[18] the 2 others; finally, the 4th, perpendicularly drawn from the top of the head to the stomach, represents the divinity that presides, directs, and governs, and whence all power derives.
The first three, forming a triangle, represent the power of man over universal creation through his principle of quaternary emanation, whereby he receives the laws, precepts, and commandments which he lost through his disobedience, and he can only regain by placing himself once again in direct correspondence with his quaternary number, represented by the perpendicular crossing the center of the triangle; this triangle in turn represents the ternary power granted him after his reconciliation with the three terrestrial horizons, West, North, and South, and with the three parts of universal creation, terrestrial, celestial, and supercelestial; but this power is useless and without action if he does not obtain the divine quaternary power represented by the perpendicular.
Quaternary correspondence of man, to wit: Man or the lesser spiritual being 1, The good companion spirit 2, The greater spirit of double power 3, The Creator 4 — 10 —
..
Man was emanated and placed at the center of six circles or divine thoughts in order that he might command, direct, preserve, and defend universal creation; he possessed a power proportional to these acts, but after the fall the Creator had to replace him with a being invested with a double power that was much more considerable, since he had to execute all of the same acts for which man had been destined, as well as to direct, either directly or through his agents, the lesser spiritual being and its form in preserving, supporting, and defending the lesser spiritual being and its form against the snares and daily attacks of the wicked spirits, to whom man had been subjugated through the fall.
..
Triangular figure of man formed from the extremity of the hands, with arms outstretched, to the feet, dominated by the head, or the celestial perpendicular that crosses the center.
..
Ternary division: the bones of ...,[19] the Pelvis or the stomach 1, the sides or the breadth of the chest 2, the head 3, form three parts that cannot be separated without their being destroyed; the 4 members belong to the vegetative part; they form a receptacle of which the Chest is the center; their Reunion repeats the septenary number that directs creation.
